I'd sure love to have a stylus that was meant to work sideways - but I suppose I'm in a minority. Color Wash blends handmade color washes and textures into the painting while retaining. I always hold my regular pencils like charcoal pencils sideways for maximum control and line thickness. This subtle effect smooths areas like a true paint brush dipped in water. On a somewhat related note, I've always wondered why Wacom doesn't make a stylus that you can hold sideways - the way I draw with a real pencil. I would like it if the Buildup had a limit to it - I don't like that it builds completely to black - it would be great to have a Buildup Panel with a Max slider so you can stop the Buildup at whatever max percentage you want. So I finally adjusted to them and now I appreciate them for the most part. I also learned to appreciate the normal 2B Pencil. I stumbled across the Real 2B Pencil and found it helpful to lay down broad strokes - combined with a subtle paper texture it looks really real and responds to tilt nicely. I didn't like the Buildup Method and experimented with other brushes but finally gave up and came back to the Buildup pencils. For those who are less adept at using tools like photoshop and corel. I wanted to mess up my canvas and smear my paint around and get away from the temptation to make things too detailed at the start of the painting process. Meanwhile, you can decide for yourself after trying out these. I never cared for the Buildup pencils in Painter - then in the last few months I learned to appreciate them as I've been working on a comic and wanted the digital pencils to look more like real pencils.
